e-RPM Ltd has extensive experience of specifying and installing environmental protection equipment across a broad spread of industries and commercial activities.

We have historically provided packages that included data monitoring and remote alarm alerting facilities. In this way, clients were able to exert tighter control over their processes, thereby generating cost savings through more effective operations and improved plant efficiencies.

This led one client to ask for assistance in not only monitoring a waste treatment station that was in an isolated location, but also to provide a low cost means to remotely control process parameters using mobile phone communications.

Our client was aware of SCADA and what that might achieve, but the savings that could be achieved by client technicians avoiding visits to site were not sufficient to justify the investment, which amounted to several thousand £s. Technicians were also unable to meet SCADA requirements in terms of access by laptop or PC.

Development by e-RPM in conjunction with an electronics design specialist in this field resulted in a new generation of low cost communications, control and datalogging hardware, able to communicate via standard mobile phone networks.

A system was built and tested using SMS text messages to communicate commands and receive subsequent responses in plain English.

The client was able to recover their investment in this new e-RPM technology, by avoiding just two technician visits to site.

Based on this successful outcome, e-RPM has gone on to develop a generic suite of equipment and software. Users in any industry or commercial undertaking can now enjoy the benefits of remote monitoring and control in circumstances where low cost, straightforward, readily available, and easy to use communications technology are essential requirements.
